Inspiring Young Coders at Thameside Primary!
In January 2024, we had the incredible opportunity to bring our Drone City Coding Workshop to Thameside Primary School for the very first time! Over two full days, students got hands-on with programming, learning to code drones to complete autonomous missions—just like real-world medical delivery drones.
These transformative workshops were made possible through the generosity of Councillor John Howson, Councillor of Education for Oxfordshire County Council, whose support ensured that Thameside students could experience the future of STEM careers firsthand.
As part of our visit, students took part in our impact survey, measuring the effect of our workshops on confidence, aspirations, and self-belief. Across our programs, we’ve seen remarkable shifts:
🚀 43% increase in girls’ confidence in coding
🚀 66% increase in girls imagining themselves as future software engineers
🚀 27% decrease in anxiety about the future
It was inspiring to see Thameside students embrace new challenges, collaborate, and gain confidence in a skill they might have thought was out of reach. Thank you to Thameside Primary for welcoming us—and to Councillor John Howson for making this possible!
The future of innovation is in great hands. 💡✨🚁
