STEM Takes Flight at Goodwood Hotel: February Half-Term Drone Camp!
This February half-term, Goodwood Hotel became a hub of innovation as we hosted an action-packed STEM day campfor over 80 young learners! With a full day of hands-on experiences, students got to explore both the Race a Drone and Code a Drone workshops, diving into the world of robotics, coding, and drone piloting.
🚁 Race a Drone: Students tested their skills as drone pilots, navigating obstacle courses and learning about aerodynamics, teamwork, and problem-solving—just like real-world search and rescue operators!
💡 Code a Drone: Using DroneBlocks, students learned how to program drones for autonomous flight, mimicking the real-world missions of medical delivery drones and emergency response teams.
Alongside these exciting challenges, all participants took part in our impact survey, helping us track how STEM experiences shape confidence, aspirations, and self-belief. Across our workshops, we’ve seen powerful results:
🚀 43% increase in girls’ confidence in coding
🚀 66% increase in girls seeing themselves as future software engineers
🚀 27% decrease in anxiety about the future
It was incredible to see young minds light up as they discovered the power of STEM in action. A huge thank you to Goodwood Hotel for hosting us—this was just the beginning of even more drone-powered STEM adventures to come!
Who’s ready for the next mission? 🚁✨🏁
